  • 1 A short power nap can help

    An employee who uses a lot of mental energy, which has a 'daily limit' of its own, can be more productive sometimes if he is allowed to take a short nap, also know as 'power nap'. Walking, coffee and other stimulants won't be able to restore this mental daily limit, only sleeping can.

    Evolution has made people become very selective regarding their surroundings. People prefer spaces that give them a good overview of the situation and they like to have their backs against the wall (so no one can sneak behind their back). Feelings of comfort and safety are of top priority.

    People prefer workspaces that have plenty of natural light. Even those who organize conferences and presentations, prefer such spaces instead of those with no source of natural light.

    Most team buildings are organized outside. Workers can more easily strengthen their relationships while being in nature, surrounded by calming green plants, being exposed to Sun, communicating more naturally and doing exciting group activities such as playing sports.

    Some workers prefer to stay longer at work, come later and thus leave later, or work from home at a late hour when their family is asleep. For them, this is an opportunity to work in a quiet and non-distracting manner and finish more of their tasks.

    More ambitious and proactive workers are more likely to accept working conditions such as working from home and having a shiftable working times (they might start their daily work at 10 AM or 3 PM for example).

    Less ambitious and retroactive workers are more likely to work 8 hour shifts and leave their workspace as soon as their time is up. They are also less likely to accept working from home, paradoxically one of the main reasons being that they spend time at work socializing and not actually working.

    Benefits of working from home are less expenses and time due to everyday travel to work, shiftable work time, comfortable surroundings, no dress code and so on.
