Why Nathan Drake is not in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

  • 1 Nathan now has a family

By the end of Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog made it clear that Nate settled down with his new family and that he wouldn't possibly appear again.

  • 2 They tied it all up

According to writer Josh Scherr ,who works for Naughty Dog, the company tied it all up in Uncharted 4, and so it was not possible to include Nathan Drake in The Lost Legacy even as a secondary character. He said that they thought about it but it felt superfluous.

  • 3 There is no more Uncharted

According to Evan Wells, the studio president, it's unlikely that there would be another Uncharted title. This is why there was no need to have Nathan show up again in The Lost Legacy.

  • 4 To create a new cast

According to Naughty Dog's Creative Director, Shaun Escayg, the company wanted to create a new cast that could carry on with the series later on in case new games were released since Nathan is now retired.

  • 5 Nathan got older

By the end of Uncharted 4, it was clear that Nathan was getting older. Naughty Dog thought it's best to retire Nathan and focus on new characters.

  • 6 Testing Nathan's absence

The Lost Legacy could also be trying to find out how well an Uncharted game can do without Nathan Drake.
